Why being sad is not necessarily bad!
Those that follow my posts know I like to promote a positive outlook. Generally being positive is an effective and healthy way to live your life, but this doesn't mean I don't also embrace being sad. Sadness is a very undervalued emotion in our current culture. Many modern self-help books label sadness as a “problem emotion” that needs to be eliminated. I do ...not prescribe to this idea, I believe sadness balances our higher emotions. Sadness teaches us to slow down and look inward. Science shows that sadness also improves the memory and judgement. So next time instead of saying I am depressed or really down, let's change that self talk to I am taking time to slow down and look inward. Lets not label it as a problem emotion, but just an emotion..x sare
